This village has about 3400 inhabitants. First it was called: "Cholnuk; Cholnok". It was inhabited as early in the late Bronze Age. Since the 19th century its inhabitants have been mostly Germans, so today its geographical names are usually bilingual. For a long time, from 1810 the brown-coal mined here and the mining-industry built on it determined the life of the people living here. Its sculpture of the Holy Trinity from the 19th century, its nice press-houses and its Calvary-stations are all worth mentioning. Its old mine-shafts which can be found in an excellent environment are really significant regarding the history of the mining-industry.

Die etwa 3400 Einwohner zählende Ortschaft, die sich früher Cholnuk oder Cholnok nannte, war schon in der späten Bronzezeit von Menschen bewohnt. Ab dem 19. Jahrhundert gelangten die Deutschen als Einwohner in die Überzahl und die geographischen Namen sind noch heute in der Mehrzahl zweisprachig. Von 1810 an bestimmte lange Zeit die unter dem Territorium gefundene Braunsteinkohle und der sich darauf aufbauende Bergbau das Leben der hiesigen Bevölkerung. Historische Sehenswürdigkeiten sind die Dreiheiligenstatue, die schönen Kelterhäuser, auch die Kreuzwegstationen sollten erwähnt werden. Von industriehistorischer Bedeutung sind die in schöner Umgebung stehenden, verlassenen Bergwerksschächte.

A 3400 körüli lakosságszámú település - korábban Cholnuk, Cholnok - a késõ bronzkorban már emberi lakhely volt. Lakói között a 19. századtól a németek kerültek többségbe, földrajzi nevei mais többnyire kétnyelvûek. 1810-tõl sokáig a terület alatt talált barnakõszén és az arra épült bányászat határozta meg az itt lakók életét. 19. századi Szentháromság- szobra mûemlék jellegû, szép présházai, Kálváriájának stációi említést érdemelnek, ipartörténeti jelentõségûek szép környezetben álló felhagyott bánya-aknái.
